LICKING COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ENDORSES C-TEC LEVY!
“C-TEC provides the highest quality of graduates with technical training unavailable in the conventional classroom; our entire Licking County community has benefitted beyond description. We have the chance to show our support by voting in favor of the levy on May 4, 2010. A ‘yes’ vote will allow the excellence in education to continue at C-TEC, and the levy has my unqualified support!”
~Dan DeLawder, chief executive officer and chairman of the board for Park National.

The success of any business lies in the people it employs. That statement may be cliqued, but without a capable and engaged workforce, a company’s product will likely never make it beyond the production
floor.
As the more than 25 local leaders of the Licking County Chamber of Commerce’s Manufacturers Council, we have a vested interest in supporting the continuing economic development of our county.
A vital element in job retention and growth is the availability of a skilled workforce. The Career and Technology Education Centers (C-TEC) is vital in the development of an educated workforce ready to meet the demands of the global society in which we live.
For more than 37 years, first as the Licking County Joint Vocational School and now as C-TEC, this institution has lived up to its mission of “promoting workforce development by offering leading-edge educational programs that provide all learners academic and technical skills needed for career
opportunities and continuous learning.”
C-TEC offers high school students the opportunity to experience career technical education not just by sitting in a classroom or reading a book, but through experienced-based, on-the-job learning. Upon graduation, these students have the marketable job skills that make them attractive to a hiring manager. And it should be noted that the school’s 99.6 percent graduation rate is one of the most enviable among all schools in Ohio.
C-TEC does not just concentrate on moving students from high school to the workforce. Many of its programs permit students to earn college credits or certifications while pursuing their high school program while other students opt to continue on to college after graduation.
The increasing globalization of markets for goods and services means that our area must have a workforce that is prepared for today’s demands as well as what lies ahead in the future. We applaud C-TEC for
ensuring we have that trained workforce.
